Video: This Game Boy demake of Elden Ring will be playable on real hardware

The big video game of the early months of 2022, Elden Ring, has already had the demake treatment this year in the form of a lovely looking PlayStation replica (which our friends at Push Square have treated). But that was just the trailer. Someone was brave enough to make a playable demake of FromSoftware’s absolute masterpiece – but not on the hardware you expected.

On Reddit, user -shin- shared a project he is currently working on – a fully playable demake of Elden Ring for Game Boy. They were created with GB Studio 3.0 and should be ready by the end of May at least until the end of the Limgrave area. We can’t imagine they will rebuild the entire game (did you seen how big Elden Ring is), but that would be mighty impressive?

-shin- handles pretty much everything from dodge rolls to the “You Died” text on the screen. It is an extremely faithful recreation of the beginning of the game. And -shin- has confirmed that this demake will be playable on original hardware. Well time to die over and over again on the old gray brick.

This isn’t the first FromSoftware game to get the demake treatment, either. Bloodborne – you know, another critically acclaimed, brilliant action RPG – also has a PS1 demake called Bloodborne PSX the Push Square also covered. But even more amazing is that the same developers have created Bloodborne card. Yes, really.

The plan is to release a demo at the end of May, but to keep up with developments you can follow -shin-‘s Twitch channel or check out YouTube.

What do you think of this Game Boy Demake? will you try it And what would you like to see for the Game Boy? Let us know in the usual place!
