Video: Will E3 be Dead, Will Nintendo Host a Live Broadcast in June?

E3 is dead. The long-running trade show has been slowly losing ground in recent years, and it seems like the COVID-19 pandemic is the final nail in the coffin. Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest has essentially taken the reins, with a showcase event starting June 9, 2022.
But what does this mean for Nintendo? Will we see a direct from the company in June, as tradition largely dictates? Our lovely video team got together again to discuss what Nintendo’s plans might be in light of E3’s cancellation. Check out the video below.
As for this author’s opinion? Yes, we will see a Nintendo Direct in June; You bet. We must remember that the big showcases from Nintendo, Microsoft and Square Enix are more or less separate from the main event of E3. In fact, Microsoft has already announced its own showcase for June 12, paving the way for other major publishers to follow suit. You’ll see!
Make sure to share your own thoughts on Nintendo’s possible plans for June in the comments below. Do you think we’ll see a direct? Or did our chances die along with E3?
