Life is simpler: The group argues about buying chickens

The Simpler Life premiered on Channel 4 on Tuesday night, and the group headed straight to the nearest store when supplies ran low.

In the new series, viewers see 24 participants agree to spend six months living off-grid on a Devon farm, where they have to fend for themselves without the luxuries of their home, including labor. turmeric.

With one contestant, Penny, complaining about her children only having pasta and rice to eat, she insisted they needed more food.

After a group meeting, Joseph, who is in charge of the group’s limited fund, revealed that it can take four weeks before the community sees the crops they grow themselves.

While the aim is for the community to learn to cater for themselves, with the produce on the land they are on for the next six months, there aren’t enough eggs, vegetables and other produce at the moment.

As they waited for the vegetables and fruit to be ready, the three of them headed to the nearest store more than two miles away.

Joseph came up with a small shopping list, not satisfied with the original shopping list put together by the group.

Listed essentials include cereals, such as Frosties and Coco Pops, and shrimp cocktail-flavored crisps, as well as chia seeds and other non-essential items.

On Joseph’s list were potatoes, onions, other vegetables, and chicken.

But when the group arrived at the restaurant, they were heartbroken when there was only one whole chicken left.

It was the moderate price of this chicken that made them reel, and Channel 4 viewers watching at home were stunned as well.

Joseph read that the meat was close to £18 for a chicken, and he could not justify buying it due to their limited funds.

Viewers supported the decision and took to Twitter to share their shock at the item’s price.

A third viewer commented: “£18 chicken?” as someone else said: “£17 for chicken af***ing!!!”

Other fans couldn’t believe the items on the original list, with one viewer commenting: “She never put Frosties and Prawn Cocktail fries on her shopping list?

Another agreed: “Frosties and Prawn Cocktail Crisps are essentials lmao.”

Simple Life continues tomorrow at 9pm on channel 4.
