Viewers of Channel 4’s new series A Simpler Life couldn’t hold back, as within hours of giving up on their normal lives, the contestants were already struggling with life.

As some did their best to adjust to their new world for the next six months, others analyzed food portions and one contestant called it giving up.

In the new series, viewers see 24 individuals agree to spend six months living off-grid on a Devon farm where they have to fend for themselves without the luxuries of their home, including technology. .

Without washing machines, supermarkets, phones, internet or the rest, communities have to work together and fend for themselves when it comes to sourcing food, as well as maintaining their homes and belongings.

Viewers saw some of the group tending to the plants and they were told it would take at least four weeks for them to see their fruits and vegetables grow.

With access to sheep, goats and other animals, the group will need to gather produce and prepare their own food, with the nearest store just over two miles away by horse and cart.

But the big adjustment is too much for some, with group shopping lists treating things like Frosties and Coco Pops as essentials.

With little money to spend on what they need, it wasn’t long before the group was in conflict over what to prioritize.

One contestant, Toby, dropped out of the series almost not a day to join, after confessing that he’s struggled with huge groups of people and group situations – especially when things go wrong. should heat up.

It was revealed at the end of the show that he walked for six hours to a train station, after stepping out of the set.







With limited money to spend on the things they need, it wasn’t long before the group was in conflict over what to prioritize.

Another participant, Penny, spoke out about her own struggles with the test, but fans were baffled by the complaints because they “knew what they signed up for”.

Hearing Penny and others comment on the lack of food and luxuries makes viewers clamor for them, as the whole point of the experiment is to leave their ordinary lives and luxuries behind.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “Is Penny really serious. What is she expecting?”
