Viewers spot suspenseful blunder on Graham Norton’s Eurovision card

Sharp-eyed viewers discovered which city will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest seconds early after Graham Norton’s card spoiled the surprise.

Orton, the BBC presenter, tried to build suspense in a special edition of The One Show on Friday night, with audiences waiting to see if Liverpool or Glasgow will host the event.

“They told me to build the movie, I just wanted to open it!” Norton said before the reveal.

He continued to open his silver envelope before pulling out a card – on the back of the card it read “Eurovision Song Contest, United Kingdom, Liverpool 2023”.

Unaware of the blunder, the talk show host managed to contain the suspense a little longer before announcing Liverpool as host.

Social media viewers were quick to point out the mistake, with one tweeting: “Incredible scenes during the Eurovision announcement as Graham Norton causes some tension before the big reveal… holding a the card says ‘Liverpool 2023’.”

Another wrote, “Literally right in front of us,” while one tweet read: “Graham norton wasted no time announcing the host city when we could see it on the card.”

The international music show will take place at the Liverpool Arena, culminating in the final on Saturday 13 May.

Eurovision is being held in the UK after this year’s winner, Ukraine, was deemed unable to host due to Russian aggression.
