Virgin, BT and Sky broadband customers have issued a Wi-Fi warning amid rising energy bills

“Turning off your router overnight can interfere with automatic software updates and optimizations, which in turn can impact your broadband’s overall performance, speed, and stability. Other connected devices in the house that are connected to your router are also being disrupted by the delayed updates.

“All our current hubs are approved under the EU Ecodesign Regulation, which means that no excessive energy consumption is used.”

BT is issuing a similar warning to customers, saying: “It’s important to ensure you keep your hub powered on and connected at all times.
