Virtual Platinum Jubilee Street Party is coming to Minecraft

IF you can’t attend a street party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, there’s another way, from the comfort of your own home.

A virtual party has arrived at Minecraft, with all the cake, champagne, and bunting you would expect for a grand royal occasion.

In the evening there is even a breathtaking fireworks display and light show over Buckingham Palace.

The royal residence and Pall Mall outside have been cleverly recreated by Minecraft genius Ushio Tokura.

It took the artist 650 hours over two weeks to use 45 million individual blocks.

The virtual area is approximately 830,000 square feet.

Players can explore Pall Mall where crowds gather alongside the Queen’s Guard, who is decked out in a special platinum jacket for the occasion.

And no party celebrating Queen Elizabeth II would be complete without something corgi-related.

Users will find a range of activities scattered throughout the site, including tail tacking on the Corgi.

Anyone with Minecraft can download the special Anniversary Street Festival for free.

It is available through planetminecraft.com.

Technology company NVIDIA commissioned the project to showcase its GeForce RTX GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

“A The Platinum Jubilee is a once in a lifetime event for the UK and we wanted to ensure there was a way for everyone, anywhere in the world to get involved and experience a traditional British street party,” a company representative said.

“We are amazed at how this world has been built and the results of ray tracing Minecraft continue to be amazing.”
