Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion plans are “doom” according to a military expert.

Vladimir Putin’s plans are now “doomed to fail” as the Kremlin leader has “woken a sleeping giant” by threatening Europe, a military expert has said.

Ukraine continues to receive arms as it continues to hold back Russian advances.

Putin’s forces have stagnated in eastern Ukraine, having lost sight of the original plan for a swift and effective invasion.

A military expert has shared online why Russia’s plans are doomed to fail.

Nicholas Drummond also explained how the procurement of military equipment and continued support to Ukraine are proving effective.

He wrote on Twitter: “Scholz + Germany in partnership with Macron and France, Johnson and Great Britain, Biden and America, Morawiecki and Poland and many others show that there is more that unites us than divides us.

“Such solidarity with Ukraine suggests that Russian plans to subsume her are doomed.”

He went on to say that Putin’s plans for a short war are slipping through his fingers.

He continued: “The war in Ukraine is unlikely to be over anytime soon.

“For Scholz to announce his commitment to Ukraine today as long as it needs Germany’s support is a clear admission that Putin will not succeed in Ukraine.

“Putin has awakened a sleeping giant.”

Germany approved the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine, including the delivery of seven Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer guns.

France and the Netherlands are also supplying variants of the howitzer to Ukraine.

Many criticized Germany for its late response to aid to Ukraine.

Mr Drummond added: “Don’t criticize Germany for being late to the party.

“After 1945 it wanted to become a country known for its economic strength, not for its military might.

“His industry has since set a global standard. It has been a fantastic European partner and deserves international respect.”

“But Olaf Scholz and his government had barely seized power when Russia invaded Ukraine.

“To his great credit, he recognized that Germany had to change to face the threat of such aggression.”

Mr Drummond also commended Britain for its role in supplying Ukraine.

He said: “I feel compelled to credit Ben Wallace in all of this.

“His early decision to send NLAW, Javelin and a massive amount of ammunition to Ukraine set a great example and was crucial in the early stages of the conflict.

“He’s been working to bring Europe and the US together ever since.”

Mr Drummond then suggested that the Russian President alienated himself and Russia from the world because of his actions.

He concluded: “Ultimately, Putin sacrificed Russian lives for no substantial gain.

“He is ruining Russia’s economy and has ruined its international reputation.

“These things will not be restored until Russia decides to get rid of him.”

It comes after NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg warned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had “shattered the peace in Europe”.

The alliance’s secretary-general pledged that a crunch summit next week in Madrid will be “transformative” for the 73-year-old coalition, coming four months after Vladimir Putin ordered Kremlin troops across the border.

Mr Stoltenberg added: “We are at a crucial time for our security.

“President Putin’s war against Ukraine is the most pressing threat we face, it has shattered peace in Europe.”
