Wagatha Christie: Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy arrive at the High Court in London as the case enters its final days
Wayne Rooney, Derby County manager and former England footballer, is set to testify in the defamation trial of his wife “Wagatha Christie” this week.
The multi-million pound case is now in its final days before the High Court in London.
Mr Rooney has attended court next to his wife every day, sitting next to her and staring straight ahead.
He is to be summoned as a witness in his wife’s defense and likely to be questioned about an alleged exchange with then-England team-mate Jamie Vardy about his wife Rebekah’s relationship with the media.
On Friday, Coleen Rooney took the witness stand in London’s High Court, finding herself in a “vulnerable situation” following the arrest of her husband Wayne for drunk driving.
The TV personality began her evidence as part of her defamation battle against Rebekah Vardy on Friday, claiming private information about her marriage to the former England captain had been leaked to The Sun newspaper.

On September 1, 2017, Mr Rooney was arrested for drunk driving when a woman was found in the car at the time.
He was later given a two-year driving ban and sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid labor after pleading guilty to the charges.
On Friday, the High Court was told Ms Rooney had taken the couple’s four children and went to live with their parents after the incident.
She said, “I was in a vulnerable situation, I didn’t know how my marriage was going to work, if I was going to move on with my relationship.”
Ms Rooney said the couple later attempted to resolve their difficulties privately but did not want the public to know of their possible reconciliation at the time.

In late October 2017 and early November, Ms Rooney posted two pictures of her children – one on her public Instagram account and a second on her private account – with only the second photo including Mr Rooney.
Ms Rooney told the High Court the pictures of the family in matching pajamas were part of a campaign in support of Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool.

She said that although she kept the photo with Mr Rooney on her private account in her “close circle”, a story was later published in The Sun.
Ms Rooney said in her testimony: “While I was comfortable enough to upload the photo of Wayne to my private Instagram account, I made a conscious choice not to upload the photo with him to my Twitter account or my public Instagram account upload because of the difficulties between us at the time.”
She later told the court, “That was information I was happy to share in the private group … but I didn’t want the public to know.”

However, she claimed that on November 1, the day of the private mail with Mr Rooney, an article describing the post was published.
Ms Rooney said in her written statement that she was “really hurt” by the leak, “particularly because I felt like someone I trusted was betraying me at a very difficult time”.
Ms Rooney is expected to continue her testimony through Monday afternoon, with Mr Rooney scheduled to take the witness stand on Tuesday.

Previously, Ms Rooney said she sent the viral post which accused “Rebekah Vardy’s account” of leaking her private information to The Sun as a “last resort”, the footballer’s wife told the High Court at the start of her evidence.
