Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney went head-to-head in court yesterday as their defamation trial – famously dubbed Wagatha Christie – began.

The two WAGS ladies have been facing each other since Coleen accused Jamie Vardy’s wife of leaking ‘false stories’ about her private life in October 2019.

She came to the conclusion after doing a month-long ‘sore operation’ where she used her Instagram Stories to post mock scenarios and see which ended up in the news. .

Rebekah, 40, denied the charges and sued Coleen for libel damages over a ‘false and baseless defamation attack’.

Coleen, 36, nicknamed herself Wagatha Christie when fans joked that her investigative skills resembled mystery writer Agatha Christie.

The mother of four created an infamous tweet that caused quite a stir on social media – with many people invested in the case.

On the day she claimed to have found out who the suspect was, Coleen posted a post on Twitter that ended with “It’s ……… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

On Tuesday, the two women faced the court as the trial began after months of preliminary hearings.

Today Rebekah returned to the stands for a second day to give evidence in her Coleen libel lawsuit.

The long-awaited battle between the pair began yesterday with claims of sovereignty, counter-claims and a sleazy account of a sexual encounter.

Rebekah said she feared she might lose her unborn baby and felt suicidal after a “chilling” phone call from her rival WAG, who accused her of leaking stories about her to the press.

But attorneys for Coleen, wife of Derby County manager Wayne, said his client’s actions sounded like a “good detective story”.

Rebekah attended the hearing at the High Court in London guarded by security while Coleen arrived with her husband Wayne, 36.

In an explosive witness statement on the first day of her smear action, Rebekah said of the phone call:[Rooney] did not answer immediately and then called me back from an unknown number.

“I hope that, once I told her it wasn’t me, she would simply fix this. Instead, she accused me of leaking stories about her for years.

“I asked her to send me stories she thought I had leaked and she said I knew exactly what I did.

“I asked her how she could do that to someone who was heavily pregnant and she said that I divulged her stories when she was pregnant.

“She told me she wanted to make me feel paranoid the same way she used to feel paranoid. I still vividly remember the tone of her voice on that phone call.

“It was very calculated, cold and she showed no remorse even though I was very angry. I found it very chilling and quite threatening. ”
