If you weren’t occupied with the Wagatha Christie scandal, which took place in 2019 and is making headlines again as a libel trial takes place in London, you might be wondering who the main players are.
The defamation trial began last Tuesday in London’s High Court, where Rebekah Vardy has accused Coleen Rooney of ruining her reputation.
In 2019, footballer Wayne Rooney’s wife took to social media to accuse Ms Vardy of selling stories about her to the press.
In a dramatic post, Ms Rooney explained she was suspicious that Ms Vardy would reveal stories that were on her private Instagram story (one that only her friends can see).
To find out if she was right, Ms Rooney had blocked everyone but Ms Vardy from viewing her private story and published fake information about her life. She claims that when these stories hit the papers, she knew who it was that leaked them.
Rebekah Vardy (40) is an English model who is married to professional footballer Jamie Vardy (35) who is currently a striker for Leicester City.

“The main point of contention is that the press says if someone is having an adulterous affair, it should be exposed. The judges disagree.

In the same interview, he said: “In the end, someone has to decide about the public interest. It can’t be editors with an obvious ax to sharpen.

It also added that Ms Watt was in a “fragile condition” and “unable” to provide evidence.
