The wives and girlfriends of England stars will be on a cruise ship at the World Cup to avoid Qatar’s strict alcohol laws.
Alcohol is not banned in the host country but only hotels, restaurants and bars are allowed to sell alcohol and drinking in public is a crime.
Gareth Southgate’s squad will be staying at the five-star Souq Al Wakra beach resort, built in 2015, for the World Cup in November. It’s a dry hotel that only serves non-alcoholic beverages.
But their partners will take advantage of the “party” planned for the tournament, with a music festival. It is understood they were offered a range of apartment and hotel options but chose to live on the waves instead.

Captain Harry Kane’s wife Katie Goodland, 29, Jordan Henderson’s wife Rebecca Burnett, 31, and Raheem Sterling’s fiancée Paige Milian, 26, are all set to make travel options.
Drink rules are expected to be relaxed a bit during the tournament, with organizers working to make it easier to buy alcohol.
The fan zones will serve beer for around £5 and a glass of wine for £6, along with a range of licensed venues.

But modern-day WAGs are unlikely to repeat the mistakes of the past, especially after the fun at Britain’s Baden-Baden base for Germany in 2006.
Four years later, discipline manager Fabio Capello banned his partners from attending the World Cup in South Africa. And Gary Neville, who has 85 caps internationally, says England have learned from Baden-Baden under Sven-Goran Eriksson.
“That’s not ideal for anyone,” Neville said. “It’s a symptom of the times. It’s a different world now and those mistakes won’t happen again.”
However, Coleen Rooney recently dismissed any suggestion that the partners created a distraction.
She told the documentary about her husband Wayne Rooney: “There were nights where we went out and we had a good time. Nobody did anything wrong.”
“Players don’t hang out with us. We never drag them out of the hotel to play with us,” she added.
Gareth Southgate has a more relaxed attitude as the players see their loved ones and give them encouragement over the holidays in Russia 2018.
