WALLACE & Gromit is returning to screens once again – more than a decade since their last A Matter Of Loaf And Death special aired.
The comedy series is gearing up for a return as the BBC confirms a new spin-off is in the works and is slated for Christmas 2024.
The spin-off will come from the creative team at Aardman, who are also behind the popular children’s TV series Shaun The Sheep.
The mischievous pair have become British cultural icons and are a regular fixture on festive TV schedules, with fans never tired of the repetitions.
For the first time, the broadcaster has revealed details of what can be expected when Wallace & Gromit finally making a long awaited comeback.
The new film focuses on Gromit’s concern that Wallace has become overly reliant on his inventions, which is justified when Wallace invents a seemingly “smart gnome.” like developing their own intelligence.
As events spiral out of control, Gromit is forced to put his fears aside and battle sinister forces or Wallace may never be able to invent again.
The Wallace and Gromit franchise is critically acclaimed, having won three Academy Awards for The Wrong Tants, A Close Shave and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
It comes just months after Nick Park – who invented the characters – was delighted to unveil a statue of the couple in his hometown of Preston.
Inspired by the movie The Wrong Pants, the sculpture was installed by Preston Markets in September.
The series will premiere on BBC and Netflix in 2024.
