Want to see a Pokemon playthrough at the Crufts dog show? Of course you do

blank

Today is Friday. It’s been a long week and there’s a lot going on in the world. So we all need a little ‘timeline cleaning’, right? Then let us introduce you to a working dog show with Lillipip the Chihuahua.

You have read correctly. Someone went to Crufts – a very serious British dog show designed to highlight dog breeds at ‘best’ (or purebred, depending on how you look at them) – to shows off a routine with the iconic Pokemon anime music and some themes from the game, too.

As you can see in the video embedded above, trainer – or is it a proper noun Trainer, when we are talking about Pokemon? – took her dog, Lavender Lillipup to the arena to show off her Pokemon music-based heel routine (thanks, @SeanTheBaptiste). If the video doesn’t automatically take you to the relevant section, until 16:30.

The astute Pokemaniacs among you will probably note that even the dog’s name is a reference to Pokemon, specifically Pokemon #506, Lillipup – the little terrier introduced in Generation 5.

This is Jenny’s first dog (!) in the competition, which makes the whole process all the more impressive. Some of the personal takeaways from this routine, for me, include: Lillipip jumping on the back of its trainer, Lillipip shoving Charizard with cardboard, Lillipip doing a little high-five with Jenny with the lyrics. sings “there’s no better team” and Jenny gives the dog a lift to her paw and walks with the puppy during the climax.

I have a rescue dog that I can barely train to not eat the mail when it comes through the door, so seeing someone training a gorgeous hybrid (and therefore, non-hybrid) dog like This gives me hope. Maybe I’ll change his name to Growlithe and try getting him to dress like a doggy in return for this, I feel inspired!

For now, though, I’ll replay this video again – and revel in a routine that puts Crufts jumping and spinning in 2022. I guess showing dogs doing ridiculous things with Pokemon music is Jenny’s real mission…and to train them is her cause.
