Warner partners with pre-licensed music for gaming platform STYNGR

STYNGR, a platform that offers pre-clearing music for games and the metaverse, has a partnership with Warner Music Group (WMG).

The partnership will see WMG provide game developers with access to pre-licensed tracks from parts of the company’s music catalogue.

According to a press release announcing the deal, a large number of game developers across the gaming ecosystem, “including individual A and AA developers,” will now have the ability to integrate licensed WMG recordings into their platforms.

This includes customized radio stations and music-based character enhancements using STYNGR Software Developer Kits (SDKs).

STYNGR claims to unlock “monetization opportunities through microtransactions, subscriptions, and advertising.”

Studios like Firefly Games are planning a series of music-based game integrations with STYNGR throughout 2022.

First on Firefly Games’ list is an immersive interactive experience in Terminator: Dark Fate.

Following this release, STYNGR says “additional music-related cosmetic purchases” and artist-driven integrations are planned for Firefly games, including Rainbow High and their new Umbrella Academy game currently in development.

“Our mission is to break down the barriers and bring music to gaming studios – particularly the massive middle class of developers – in a way that reduces licensing friction while being player-friendly.”

Alex Tarrand, STYNGR

“Our mission is to break down the barriers and bring music to gaming studios – particularly the big middle class of developers – in a way that reduces licensing friction while being player-friendly,” said Alex Tarrand, co-founder of STYNGR.

“Gaming is in our DNA and our service addresses how games leverage music today, as well as the future of audio vanities.

“We enable developers to get the commercial music their users want without having to deal with music licensing, distribution and payments themselves. We also offer the ability to flip the model and monetize popular music within a game.”

Tarrand added: “Our solution offers players top tracks. It’s easy to integrate and handles all backend rights management.

“STYNGR ensures artists get paid for their music and gamers have an amazing experience. We will also support our customers in connecting with our label partners to get other in-game artists exclusively from some of the biggest acts in music.”

“Partnering with STYNGR will allow us to expand the presence of music in the global gaming ecosystem.”

Alex Kamins, WMG

Alex Kamins, SVP, New Business & Ventures, WMG added, “Partnering with STYNGR will allow us to expand music’s presence in the global gaming ecosystem.

“These integrations will improve the player experience and provide new, playful ways for WMG artists to engage their fans and generate additional income.”music business worldwide
