WHATSAPP is planning a whole load of changes to the app – and they will affect billions of users.

The Meta custom chat app is constantly being updated, and there are some big tweaks along the way.

WhatsApp is testing new features before the rollout – in the “Beta” app.

The WhatsApp investigators at WABetaInfo checked out the app to uncover the best changes in the pipeline.

It will soon be possible to share voice memos as status updates.

And some of the changes have already been rolled into the general release version of WhatsApp – the version used by billions of people around the world.

WhatsApp changes revealed

Here are some of the changes…

• The ability to search for messages by date (now live)
• Drag & Drop Media from Other Apps to WhatsApp (Live Now)
• Block users within the chat list (in beta)
• Share voice memos about status updates (in beta)
• Transfer chat history between Android devices (under development)
• Send photos in original quality (under development)

Some of the features are live right now.

The changes in the beta will likely end up on the general release version of WhatsApp much sooner.

But it’s impossible to say when any of them will land.

It can take days, weeks, or even months for WhatsApp to roll them out.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp Beta for your smartphone, you need to go to Google Play on your smartphone Android and search for whatsapp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Tap the “I’m in” button, then tap “Join” to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.

Join the WhatsApp beta iOS is more difficult and has a limited capacity.
