Austin, Texas is just one of the US cities that has autonomous cruise vehicles roaming the streets.
It was captured by cyclist Robert Foster as he drove near the autonomous vehicle on his way home.
Speak with KXAN NewsFoster said, “They’re driving like a lot of maybe less experienced drivers in Austin when they’re making left turns. They’re just driving extremely far, unaware that it’s both illegal and very unsafe to do so.”
“There is no way that a bicycle could have stood safely on the cycle path next to it.
“I mean, I’ve never seen anything remotely as bad as that [Cruise AV] Cars to the point where people were in them or people directed them [the cars].”
Cruise released his own statement after multiple media outlets reported the story.
It said: “Safety is Cruise’s top priority, not just for our passengers, but for everyone with whom we share the road.
“Our technology is constantly improving and we are reviewing our lane mapping in this area.”
Users quickly commented on the video on Twitter.
One said: “How is it even legal to take back control on the road without a driver when everything is starting to go haywire?”
Another said: “What’s the point if there’s no one in it?”
A third pointed out: “Reason number 4,028 why we need protected bike lanes everywhere.
“Color protects nobody.”
