GABADINHO MHANGO scores the opening goal of 40 YARD as Malawi stuns Morocco at AFCON.
The Orlando Pirates forward has conjured up an early goal that any player will struggle to play better this year – even at the World Cup.
It was the latest and greatest moment of drama at an exciting tournament.
And Malawi players and fans went wild at Mhango’s miraculous intervention.
Just seven minutes after the last 16 draw, the 29-year-old turned inward from the left and unleashed a mighty right-footed cut into the far corner of the goal.
The ball went from outside the right post to the inside, past the outstretched arms of Morocco’s Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to go straight into goal.
Bounou was at six yards from his line – rarely out of place.
And Malawi’s sudden foray has clearly rocked Morocco.
But when the favorites regained their composure, Malawi goalkeeper Charles Thom had to make a brilliant save.
However, Youssef En-Nesyri headed home Morocco’s equalizer in extra time in the first half.

Mhango’s mesmerizing moment comes 24 hours after another incredible turn in the league.
Chaker Alhadhur – forced to play in goal, not left-back – made an excellent four stops in Comoros’ 2-1 loss to Cameroon.
Comoros has all three normal goalkeepers, one injured, two with Covid.
