Watch the hair-raising moment as loose pieces of wood are catapulted into oncoming drivers at high speed

The driver has three long wooden planks as well as other items hanging from the back.

As the truck passes under a portal with street signs, the wooden planks hit the metal structure, causing a loose bucket and other items to fly up in the air and land on the street.

The driver of the lorry was fined £100 and three penalty points on his driving license for unsafely loading an object into his vehicle.

The clip was part of a montage of dangerous driving examples released by Devon and Cornwall Police and recorded and sent in by the public.

Footage shows near misses, dodgy overtaking, overloaded trucks and drivers ignoring red lights.

In another example, a tire is shown coming off a tractor towing a trailer on a roadway near Exeter.

At first glance it looks like the tire is loosely attached to the rear of the trailer with some straps.

It then shows the large rubber ring beginning to bounce up and down as the vehicle increases its speed, before eventually detaching from the seat belts and falling in the path of vehicles behind.

The driver was fined £100 and three penalty points for having an unsafe load and potentially endangering someone.

In another clip, a small white vehicle can be seen dangerously overtaking traffic on a narrow country lane on the A386 in the village of Mary Tavy, near Tavistock.

The driver, who recorded the hair-raising incident on his dashcam, slams on the brakes as the other car that’s on his side of the road frantically reverses into the other lane.

Fortunately, a collision was avoided and no damage appears to have occurred.

The motorist who carried out the dangerous overtaking received a hefty fine of £574 plus five penalty points for careless and reckless driving.

Another clip highlighting dangerous driving shows a black vehicle swerving into a wrong lane and then running a red light in Plympton, a suburb of Plymouth.

The driver of the car manages to narrowly avoid oncoming traffic from the other side of the road.

The motorist was slapped with a £1,176 fine plus six penalty points for careless and reckless driving.

In the last clip, the police give an example of a vehicle driving too close to cyclists.

Footage, filmed from the rear of the cyclist’s bike, shows a gray car passing very close to them.

The short clip was shot around Downhead.

The driver did not have to pay a fine, but instead took part in driver training.
