WATCH: Troy Parrott scores another world-class punch as MK Don’s saving point against bitter rivals

Troy Parrott’s fantastic goal earned MK Dons a 1-1 draw at bitter rivals AFC Wimbledon which put them three points clear of third-placed Rotherham in the League One promotion race.

The result benefited them more than the relegation-threatened hosts, who led most of the game through captain Alex Woodyard’s goal despite closing the gap to three points.

Wimbledon got a valuable 19th-minute lead after the visitors failed to clear Nesta Guinness-Walker’s free-kick when a Woodyard miss went into the net.

The pressure from MK Dons built as the second half progressed, with Wombles goalkeeper Nik Tzanev repelling a good save from Mo Eisa’s shot over the goal.

But there was nothing he could do with 10 minutes remaining as Dean Lewington selected Parrott, who smashed off the underside of the bar in a fantastic volley from a tricky angle.

The hosts recovered and almost scored a winner when Ethan Chislett’s header was blocked by MK Don goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.
