WATFORD’s match against Norwich has been halted due to a headlight fault – although people can still see.
The lights at each corner of Vicarage Road began to dim and referee Mike Dean decided it would not be safe to continue with the intense struggles of the players on both sides.
Sky Sports’ Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher grow increasingly frustrated as delays drag on TEN MINUTES because Hornet’s backup generator also failed.
Commentator Carragher said: “It’s totally fine. Who decided that they can’t continue in this light? It’s the referee? They can play, just get on with it.”
While expert Neville raged: “The longer this game doesn’t go on, the bigger the problem they create.
“We are here at pitch level and there are absolutely no problems at all.
“I’ve played in weird stadiums in Europe or away from home with England where you’ll have less light than this.
“Someone in the Premier League needs to text Mike Dean to get this game going right now, because this is total nonsense.”
Ultimately, Premier League officials asked Dean to consult the two managers and captain and asked if they were happy to continue.
Even though his faction is following peaceJosh Sargent, Watford boss, says yes.
And he may have regretted that decision almost immediately as soon after Sargent headed home his second goal of the game to give Norwich a precious 2-0 lead.
Moments later, things took a turn for the worse for the Italian as his top goalscorer Emmanuel Dennis was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Watford also took the lead in the 90th minute after Moussa Sissoko was reported to have been caught offside.
And and Juraj Kucka’s disastrous own goal in the first 15 minutes of extra time was the final nail in Watford’s coffin as the Canaries won 3-0.
