Marcus Rashford has been weighing his future at Manchester United as he hasn’t had any minutes at the club lately, but Wayne Rooney has told his former team-mate to stay at the club
Wayne Rooney has revealed he wants Marcus Rashford to stay on Manchester United player and so that he becomes the top scorer in the club’s history.
Rashford’s request comes just days later Mirror Football revealed that arsenal plan a move for the wanton striker. The Gunners need to sign a striker in the summer and believe they could lure the England international to the Emirates Stadium for a bargain price.
It has been reported that Rashford is weighing his options heading into the final stages of the season and is growing unhappy with his lack of minutes under Ralf Rangnick at United. But the 24-year-old has been told to stay at Old Trafford by the Red Devils hero Wayne Rooney.
Accordingly The sun, Rooney spoke about Rashford at a black tie event on Saturday night, saying: “To get the record and be Manchester United’s top scorer it’s bloody massive. But I hope that the record will be broken.
“What I’m hoping is Marcus Rashford gets his head out of his ass and breaks that record. He’s a boy from Manchester.” Strong calls for Rashford to reassess his situation will certainly be heard by the striker, but whether continuing at United will be enough for him remains to be seen.
The academy product has 19 four goals and two assists for United First League Appearances this season but many believe his performances have not been up to par and the winger has lost the ‘spark’ that previously made him one of England’s most exciting young talents. But Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hoping that if he can sign the striker, he can get Rashford’s career back on track by integrating him into a squad of young players who are all equally committed to his project.
But Tony Cascarino has urged the Gunners to reconsider pursuing the wanton star as he feels Rashford is not the out-and-out striker the club needs. Speaking of talkSPORTCascarino explained: “Being a natural striker and I’ve learned that along the way and I’ve gotten better with age so Marcus could get better because there’s no reason someone can’t improve, you have to be a lot , very clinical.
“You have to punish because when you go to a club like Arsenal they want to develop and a Champions League Team so you have to be clinical in front of goal.” Arsenal let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang go Barcelona in January and with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract at the end of the season, Arteta will be eyeing more than one striker in the summer.
former Chelsea Forward Cascarino continued: “I was joking and calling sometimes [Alexandre] Lacazette “Lack a finish” which is a bit harsh because I think he’s a decent player but he wasn’t clinical enough for Arsenal. They needed that so he could punish teams and I don’t think Marcus is ready to do that at Arsenal.
