Will Rooney manage Man United one day? Let us know in the comments
Louis Saha, who spent four years at United as Rooney’s team-mate, believes his old-colleague shares a certain trait with Ferguson.
Speak with mirror footballSaha said: “It’s a tough job for him at Derby but he’s a tough guy.
“I don’t know him as a manager but what I see in terms of his commitment is class.
“I’ve seen some interviews and some really passionate body language on the sidelines.
“And he has a lot of empathy, which is really important.
“It’s a way of really seeing a player’s weaknesses and strengths and then deciding how to help them.
“If you don’t have empathy and just ask someone to do what you’re asking, you’re not going to get anywhere.
“That was Sir Alex Ferguson’s main quality, so I think Wayne will do great in that and in so many other aspects.
“I think he has big plans as a manager.
“No disrespect to Derby but I think if he gets another chance at a so-called bigger club he’ll show great quality because he’s very smart and very dedicated.”
While one of Saha’s old team-mates has been impressing in the dugout, another is still at its best at 37.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s fairytale return to United last summer surprised many, but Saha isn’t surprised at the Portuguese’s longevity.
“I’m not surprised he’s still doing well, even at 37,” added the Frenchman.

“In every situation, he’s still the one chasing the ball after the 90th minute. Even when he’s out.
“He wants to score goals. He always wants to be there. He’s a great example.
“His stats speak for themselves. I am very blessed and privileged to have played with him and see him as a fan scoring so many for club and country.
“I don’t think we’ll see a player like him again. I just don’t see it. He’s just a great professional. I wish a lot of United players could imitate him and learn from him.”
Louis Saha spoke to the mirror in connection with William Hill.
