We can’t even park in front of our own houses because construction workers are wreaking havoc… we’ve been totally forgotten

RESIDENTS are angry they can’t park in front of their own because of a new development.
Neighbors accused council officials of forgetting them and their needs when changing park ordinances.
But Greater Manchester’s Salford Council insisted its “no waiting at all times” restrictions and residents’ parking permits were needed to stop dangerous parking.
Officials said demand for parking in the area is high and cars have blocked access to the site.
But resident Jamie Christian, 34, said so Manchester evening news: “I was worried about where I would park my car. I have a feeling that we will be forgotten here.
“It’s only been an issue for the past year – since development began.

“It’s annoying that we’re being pushed further and further down the street and can’t park in front of our houses.”
Sue Royale, 61, added: “My partner has to park in another lot around the corner which is unfair to these residents as they don’t have much space for their cars.
“It’s been a problem since they really started building.
“People are angry now. Some residents have carers here and have to park around the corner, which can reduce the time they have with the patient.
“It’s just ridiculous day and night because it’s full of cars.
“It used to be just trees and now it’s apartments looking into your kitchen. I never thought I would see that.”
A report from the council said: “These restrictions will protect the access points of the new development and will also stop parking in the blind corner.
“Any parking on or near the curve forces cars onto the wrong side of the road, with little or no forward visibility, creating a hazard for road users.”

Five objections were raised in the Council. The authority reduced curb areas with double yellow lines from ten to five meters.
Council’s Mike McCusker said the situation would be reassessed once development was complete.
