Fiona Phillips says families fleeing war in Ukraine face heartbreak as they are separated from relatives and friends, as well as their beloved cats and dogs

Unfortunately, the brutal war inflicted on Ukraine is not limited to spreading its misery only among the human population.
Thousands of beloved pets are being abandoned at the Ukrainian border because families fleeing the horrors of their besieged homeland lack the proper papers for their cats and dogs (and anything else on four legs).
Some pets are even left tied to lampposts when their owners depart in hopes of a better life away from the hell hole their country has become.
It’s heartbreak on four legs, as anyone who adores their pets can already imagine.
Their minds will be filled with dark images of their loyal, beloved, furry pals, left alone and confused, mistreated, brutalized, and harmed.
Congratulations to us animal loving Brits and our Government for promising that all refugees arriving under the Homes for Ukraine program will be welcomed WITH their pets, even if the animals are not vaccinated or microchipped.
We also pay for the entire care in quarantine.
Aren’t we amazing? But we are, after all, a nation of animal lovers.
Let’s hope that our two-legged friends – humans – will also be shown respect and love.
You will need nurturing and hospitality during this horribly unnecessary conflict dreamed up by a nasty, brutal, bald, unattractive little man with a twisted mind and serious problems.
He could use a dog to sniff out his evil and bury it. A dog trained to bite whenever Putin comes near a glass of vodka and a gun in a crowded area.
