We will all miss this brilliant little car with its cutting-edge technology and comfort

THAT is the smallest Audi. The A1. The chic little supermini.
Unfortunately, his days are numbered.
Bosses have revealed this will be the last A1 as the company focuses on larger and more profitable models.
The same goes for the Q2, the baby crossover. Both will be killed off by 2025.
There will be small updates here and there to keep it fresh, but no new models. Which makes me a little sad.
I like small cars and the A1 is the cheapest way to get to the four rings.

We all know there is one Volkswagen Polo rolled in Audi glitter but it has this badge. Like an iPhone SE. It’s not the 13 Pro Max. But regardless, it’s still an Apple.
The car we tested here is the high-quality S-Line trim – nice body kit, nice alloys, sports suspension – paired with the most powerful 150hp 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and the seven-speed S-Tronic auto.
It’s a peach.
Hurry up and you’ll have a willing dance partner.
Be sensible and it shuts down two cylinders at low loads to save fuel and reduce CO2. My test returned 41 MPG.
This exact car costs £29,505. which is expensive. The cheapest A1 – in Technik trim, with a 95hp 1-litre engine and five-speed manual – costs just under £21,000.
Aim somewhere in between and you’re spot on.
The 110bhp 1-litre S line with a six-speed manual is £23,000 and the silky-smooth S-tronic car is £25,000.
No matter which version you choose, Audi interiors are great. Firmly. Robust. Clever. Well built. reassuring.
In a small car you get the highest level of technology and comfort – two screens, all kinds of driver assistance – combined with basic air conditioning and a manual handbrake.
I’ll admit it needs more insulation to muffle road noise – especially noticeable when you’re on a phone call – and there are some cheap plastics, but this is an A1, remember, not an A Q7.
It’s still an Audi. It still has four rings on the tiller. It’s still cool.
We’ll miss it when it’s gone.
