Weather forecast for the bank holiday weekend with warm and cloudy skies and temperatures in the high teens

A warm and cloudy bank holiday weekend is in store as temperatures are forecast to be in the high teens.

Today will be slightly cloudier than previous days with cloud formation throughout the afternoon before a milder day or another milder one.

Met Éireann forecasts some hazy sunny spells to develop today before gradual formation of clouds from the west spreading east across the country by early evening.

A light drizzle may later develop along the west coast, with maximum temperatures between 13°C and 17°C with light, variable breezes.

There will be some clear spells initially in the east tonight but will be generally cloudy with rain and drizzle developing in many western parts by morning.

Light, variable winds or calm conditions in most areas with lowest temperatures between 3°C and 8°C.

Saturday will be a mostly cloudy or overcast day with scattered rain or drizzle.

Persistent and heavy rain is likely to come over Ulster, but parts of the south-west will have good dry spells.

Maximum temperatures range from 11°C to 15°C, with south-westerly winds, fresh in the north and light or moderate in the south.

On Saturday evening it will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain or drizzle. It will be foggy in places, with hill fog likely.

It will be a mild night with low temperatures between 8°C and 10°C and moderate, locally fresh south-west winds that will become weak from the west.

Sunday begins mostly cloudy with some rain or drizzle.

It will gradually become drier from the north as the afternoon and evening progress, with the possibility of some late sunny spells in the north of the country with light variable breezes.

The highest temperatures are between 13 °C and 17 °C, mildest in late sunny periods in the north-west.

Sunday night will be mostly dry with variable clouds and some clear spells resulting in some patches of fog and mist forming with lowest temperatures of 4C to 7C in very light winds or calm conditions.

Bank Holiday Monday will bring lots of clouds and some bright or sunny spells with a few scattered light showers.

The highest temperatures are between 13°C and a rather warm 17°C with a light breeze.

Tuesday will generally be slightly cooler, with light northerly breezes bringing some light showers and variable cloud cover often.
