Weather in Ireland: dry today with sunny spells ahead of a wet Electric Picnic weekend

Today will be mostly dry with sunny intervals, although an isolated shower is possible, Met Éireann has forecast.

The forecaster said things are set to get choppy from Friday with intermittent wet weather over the weekend when Electric Picnic is due to take place and early next week.

All nebulae will clear this morning with highs between 17C and 22C in a light to moderate east to northeast breeze.

Thursday will be mostly dry with sunny intervals and developing showers will be scattered. The highest temperatures are between 17°C and 22°C with a light easterly or changing breeze.

It will be mostly dry overnight with clear spells and patches of fog and fog. Clouds will increase in the northwest, bringing rain to coastal areas in the morning.

The lowest temperatures are between 8°C and 12°C with light, variable winds.

Bursts of rain are developing in the west and northwest Friday morning, spreading and intensifying across the western half of the country in the afternoon.

There will be isolated showers in the east. It will become drier in the southwest as the evening progresses, with some sunny spells developing.

The highest temperatures range from 15°C in the north-west to 21°C in the south-east and there are light to moderate, variable winds.

In the south and west there will be clear periods and isolated showers and it will be colder with minimum temperatures of 5°C to 9°C.

Winds will be light and variable and patches of mist and mist are possible to the south and west.

On Saturday morning there will be patchy rain in Ulster and Leinster, but elsewhere it will be drier with sunny spells.

However, in the afternoon and evening it will be wet in Connacht, Munster and Leinster, with heavy rain at times.

Ulster will also see scattered showers with highest temperatures between 14C and 20C, warmest in Ulster and North Leinster, with light to moderate winds.

It will continue to rain in Connacht and much of Munster and Leinster on Saturday evening, at times heavily.

It will also become windier, with moderate to brisk and gusty east to south-east winds. The lowest temperatures range from 9 °C in the southwest to 15 °C in the northeast.

Rain will gradually move north on Sunday morning and afternoon, followed by sunny spells and showers with maximum temperatures between 16C and 20C.
