Today will be a cooler but bright day with sunshine and scattered showers.
et Éireann said moderate north-west winds will sometimes be blustery near showers, so it will feel “fairly chilly” for this time of year, with highs of just 11C to 14C.
Showers will be scattered throughout the late afternoon and will mostly subside towards the west coast by evening.
Tonight will be mostly dry with long periods of clear weather and a few scattered showers along the Atlantic coast. It will be quite chilly overnight with lows of 3°C to 7°C, with the possibility of frost, haze and fog.
The forecaster said tomorrow will be a dry and fairly sunny day in most areas, but the possibility of scattered showers will linger in the west throughout the morning. The highest afternoon temperatures are between 14°C and 16°C.
After a dry, steady start to Thursday night, persistent and occasionally heavy rain will spread from the northwest, with lows of 6C to 11C.
Met Éireann said Friday will start out as a wet and windy day, with “continuous and occasionally heavy” rain across the country, while south to south-west winds will remain fresh to strong and gusty at times, with gales on the Atlantic coast. Clearer conditions with scattered showers will follow from the northwest over the course of the afternoon with highs of 15C to 18C.
Isolated showers will persist Friday evening, most commonly along the Atlantic coast, with the best dry spells and clear spells in the east. Minimum temperatures of 8°C to 12°C are expected.
The forecaster said there will be sunny spells and fairly widespread showers on Saturday morning, “some becoming intermittently heavy and thunderstormy”. Showers will retreat to the West Coast for the afternoon while longer periods of sunshine develop elsewhere. The highest temperatures are between 13 °C and 16 °C.
The showers will continue to affect mainly western areas on Saturday evening, but they will generally be lighter. The best clear periods will be in the east, with lowest temperatures of 8°C and 11°C.
Some sunny spells on Sunday morning will give way to clouds with some light showers later in the day, but better sunny spells are developing later in the afternoon with highs of 13°C to 16°C.
“Milder but unsettled in the early days of next week, although there is a possibility that calmer conditions will develop later in the week,” Met Éireann said.
