An SNOW storm will hit parts of the country tomorrow night with temperatures set to 0C.

The Met Eireann said mountains in Ulster could be covered and revealed snow could also be seen on higher ground on Friday morning.

Speaking about Thursday night, the weather boss said: “The rain will clear up to the southeast early night for dry, cold and clear conditions.

“Scattered showers, hail or hail will move northwest and west.

“Showers will extend inland later tonight but much of the south and east will be dry.

“Some sleet is possible over the mountains of Ulster. Lowest temperatures are between 0 and 4 degrees with moderate westerly winds.”

Met Eireann added: “A cold and bright day with scattered spells of sunshine and showers or sleet, possible snow on higher ground.

“Showers will be most frequent in the north and west. Temperatures will peak in the afternoon between 5 and 8 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.”

Meanwhile, the national forecasting agency said there would be some amount of “dry weather”.

But emphasizes that there will be “light drizzle” outbreaks that will become common.

Weather bosses said: “It was cloudy tonight with rain and drizzle breaking out.

“However, it will become drier from the western and northwest fringes overnight with some clarity.

“It’s also turned cool, in fresh southwesterly winds. Lowest temperatures are between 5°C and 8°C.

“Thursday morning will be mostly dry with some sunshine and just a little patchy drizzle.

“A band of rain will move in the northwest in the afternoon, there are places with heavy rain and gradually dissipate to the southeast across the country during the day.

“It will also be windy with a southwesterly wind from strong to strong from clear to strong, which will turn northwest and moderate when the rain stops.

“Temperatures in the afternoon will be around 10 to 12 degrees, but will drop sharply when the rain stops.”
