Weather Ireland: Met Éireann forecast a sunny weekend and warmer weather on the way

Most of Ireland will enjoy sunshine this weekend before warmer weather sets in with temperatures reaching 26 degrees.

The weekend is set to feature a mix of sunshine, warm weather and showers, but next week is expected to be hotter again as mercury is expected to rise above the mid-20s by Wednesday.

Met Éireann has said a high-pressure belt will remain positioned near Ireland in the coming week, bringing largely dry weather and sunny spells.

The weekend will start out relatively dry on Saturday morning, before clouds will gather in the afternoon and most of the country will experience light showers. This will dissipate by evening, allowing sunny spells to develop across the country. The maximum temperatures today are generally between 17 and 20 degrees.

On Sunday the vast majority of the country will enjoy fair sunshine with only very isolated showers mostly confined to North Ulster, with the best of the sun expected for Munster and South Leinster. Temperatures will start to rise on Sunday with highs between 18 and 22.

As of Monday, Met Éireann is forecasting that the aforementioned high pressure belt will mean Ireland will see little to no rain and sunny spells for much of next week.

“There is a possibility of some light showers in the west and north of the country [on Monday] with maximum temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees,” said a Met Éireann forecaster.

“Tuesday will be a mostly dry day with long rays of sunshine and only a small chance of some light showers in Connacht and Ulster. Maximum temperatures between 21 and 24 degrees with a light southwest wind or changing winds. Dry with clear spells Tuesday night. Haze and fog form in some places when the wind drops lightly. Minimum temperatures from 11 to 14 degrees.

“Another dry and mostly beautiful day with long periods of sunshine is forecast for Wednesday. Slightly warmer than the previous days with highs of 22 to 26 degrees with a light south-west wind. Long clear periods overnight with some haze or fog developing again with mostly light winds. Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees”.

Little is likely to change for the second half of next week as warm sunshine and scattered clouds are forecast with highs expected back in the mid 20’s. Weather Ireland: Met Éireann forecast a sunny weekend and warmer weather on the way
