Weather Ireland: Met Éireann forecast sunny spells and rain ahead of a ‘choppy’ week

The weekend will bring mixed conditions with sunny spells and scattered rain showers across the country.

et Éireann have forecast the next week to be variable with some rain or showers most days.

It’s set to rain heavily in Ulster this morning and Connacht will be moving south today. Dryer and sunnier conditions will follow in the north and west later in the morning.

The south starts out drier with some rain showers and some spells of sunshine before the rains start later in the afternoon and then become lighter and more patchy.

Highest temperatures range from a cool 15°C in the north-west to 22°C in the south-east, with moderate to brisk westerly winds that ease later.

Tonight will be dry in many areas with clear spells, but will become overcast with showers in southern counties.

There will also be some showers in the north-west, with lowest temperatures between 7°C and 11°C. However, it will be a mild and wet night in the south, with temperatures in the low to mid-teens. The southwest wind will be weak.

Sunday brings a mix of clouds and bright or sunny spells. There will be rain and drizzle near the south coast.

Elsewhere it will be mostly dry, but patchy rain may spread north later in the afternoon and evening.

Most areas are fairly calm with only light variable winds with maximum temperatures between 16°C and 20°C, humid in the south.

Sunday night will be mostly cloudy with rain, locally heavier towards dawn. Partly foggy with some hill fog.

It will be mild and humid with lows between 14°C and 16°C, slightly cooler in the north with lows of 9°C and 12°C. Light to moderate southeast winds turn south.

Bursts of rain in the early hours on Monday will turn into a mix of sunny spells and showers, with highest temperatures between 18C and 22C, warmest in the south-east. Moderate westerly breezes will develop.

During the night it will be cloudy with rain or drizzle, most consistent on the Atlantic coast.

It will be mild and fairly humid with lowest temperatures between 14°C and 16°C and light south-west winds.

On Tuesday there will be a mix of sun and showers, in the evening it will be drier with more extensive sunshine.

Maximum temperatures are between 16°C and 21°C with light to moderate westerly breezes.

Much dry weather is forecast for Wednesday, although there will also be some showers, mainly in the north and west with highs between 15C and 20C with a moderate westerly breeze.
