Weather Ireland: Met Éireann says restless weather is expected this week

Met Éireann said “choppy” weather is on the way this week, with low pressure leading to “scary conditions” in north-west Ireland.

This morning will be generally dry with sunshine and isolated showers.

Clouds coming in from the Atlantic will bring rain and drizzle to western areas in the afternoon and evening. However, many eastern districts will be dry for most of the day, with highs of 14C up to 18C.

It will be wet and windy tonight with some severe thunderstorms leading to localized flooding. Lowest temperatures of 10°C to 13°C are forecast.

Met Éireann said the persistent overnight rain will clear to the east on Tuesday morning, with sunny spells and isolated heavy showers to follow for the remainder of the day. It will be a milder day with maximum temperatures of 14°C to 19°C.

Tuesday night there will be clear periods and scattered showers. The showers will mainly affect western counties towards morning, with lowest temperatures of 7°C to 10°C.

Met Éireann said Wednesday’s rainy conditions will affect the western half of Ireland in the first half of the day, before later moving to the eastern half of the country.

Some sharp and possibly thunderstorm outbreaks will hit eastern counties in the evening. Maximum temperatures of up to 19 °C are expected.

Met Éireann said Thursday will be a similar day, with light to moderate westerly winds and scattered afternoon and evening thundershowers.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will affect Atlantic counties on Friday, particularly later in the day.

Elsewhere it will be mostly dry with sunny intervals and good isolated showers. Maximum temperatures of 15°C to 20°C are forecast.

“Current indications are that while conditions are calming to some extent, some isolated showers are also expected,” Met Éireann said. Weather Ireland: Met Éireann says restless weather is expected this week
