Weather Ireland: Status Yellow rain warning issued for six counties as unsettled weather persists

A status yellow rain warning has been issued for six counties as recent unsettled weather looks set to continue.

The rain alert covers the whole of Munster and Galway and will be active tomorrow from 3am to 3pm.

“Rainfalls overnight and on Tuesday will be heavy at times, leading to localized flooding,” Met Éireann said.

It comes as stormy conditions will continue in the coastal districts tomorrow.

Met Éireann has also issued a status yellow sea warning for all Irish coasts, with wind speeds to reach “Force Six or above”.

The forecaster said it will be dry early tonight for many areas, with light winds and increasing cloud cover. Lowest temperatures are between 1C and 4C this morning, but will be much milder later on as rain spreads from the southwest.

Rain will spread northeast to all areas by morning and become heavy at times.

Tuesday will be cloudy, wet and windy with widespread rain and fresh to strong south-west winds.

Rain will move into the Irish Sea in the evening, with clear spells and showers following from the west. It will be mild with maximum temperatures between 10°C and 13°C.

The national forecaster said the low pressure will keep our weather unsettled throughout the week. It will be windy at times with frequent showers and rain.

Wednesday will be a windy and rainy day. In the afternoon showers will become more frequent, some heavy and prolonged, with a risk of hail.

There will be strong and gusty westerly winds with gales on the west coasts and maximum temperatures between 5ºC and 9ºC.

Rain will ease in the east on Thursday morning, any dry spells will be short-lived as more showers from the west follow in the afternoon.

The highest temperatures are between 9 °C and 12 °C with moderate to fresh westerly winds.

It will be stormy again with isolated showers and fresh to strong westerly winds and maximum temperatures between 5°C and 9°C.
