Weeknd’s opening day postponed after the national phone network went down

The opening date of The Weeknd’s new stadium tour has been postponed after one of Canada’s largest phone networks shut down nationwide causing problems for the venue’s operations.

He is believed to be the pop superstar who was at the Rogers Center in his hometown of Toronto on Friday, before the incident affected the stadium’s infrastructure.

The stadium, which is also home to the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, apologized to customers and promised that a new day would be held in due course.

“We regret to announce that the The Weeknd tour, which stops at the Rogers Center, has been postponed due to an outage affecting the venue’s operations,” a statement posted online.

“New show dates will be shared as soon as possible and tickets will be honored.

“We understand how disappointing this is and apologize for the inconvenience.”

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is about to embark on a multi-stadium tour, titled All Hours Til Dawn, following the release of her fifth studio album Dawn FM.

A statement from tour promoter Live Nation said: “The Weeknd is on site and ready to broadcast but due to disruptions to the Rogers network across the country, the show is scheduled for tonight at… The Rogers Center will be delayed as the site’s operations and infrastructure cannot function until full service has resumed.”
