This Morning’s GP has shared her top five tips for losing belly fat – and it’s not as hard as you might think.

A recent study found that more than half of UK adults (63 per cent) classify as overweight or obese.

dr Sara Kayat claimed, “A good place to start is by measuring your waist, and you want your waist to be less than half your height.

“For example, if you are 1.60m tall, you want your waist to be 29 inches.

“But if you’re 32 inches tall, you’re in that unhealthy zone, so let’s try to reduce that.”

The health expert added, “When it comes to dieting, there’s so much advice out there, but I’m happy to make five tips.”

Eat mindfully

dr Sara claims that appreciating the taste of food promotes “mindful eating,” which helps “maintain a healthy body weight.”

“Learn how to eat properly again!” remarked Dr. Sara. “Have a table, a plate, learn to chew, learn to appreciate the flavor on your plate instead of scooping it up on your way to work, at your desk, or in front of the TV.

Eat more of the right foods

By choosing the right foods, you can actually eat more.

The expert explained: “Don’t be so restrictive when it comes to dieting, you can actually eat more.

“So it’s about eating more of the right foods, the lower-calorie, more nutrient-dense foods that are found in many plant-based foods.

“The restrictive aspect of the diet can really put people off.”

dr Sara said: “An ideal snack is something like nuts – they’re really high in healthy fats, high in fiber and protein – anything to help stabilize blood sugar so you don’t get these massive cravings.

“And to make you feel full longer.”

Some studies have suggested that “little and often,” four to five small meals a day can help with weight loss.

dr Sara said: “It really depends on you as a person and also what you eat.

“For some people grazing works, for others they need that structure in their day or they end up grazing too much.

“Some people find they respond better to a bit of fasting between meals.

“But if you’re hungry and your choice is to eat other foods or have a small snack, then eat a snack and make sure it’s good for you.”

Alcohol is not only a sedative, but also high in calories.

dr Sara explained: “There are now so many really good soft and non-alcoholic drinks that we have the opportunity to swap them out.

“A lot of people just miss that flavor, and we have that option now, so it’s a really viable option for people.”

Stay away from crash diets

Crash diets are done in the short term to get quick results.

dr Sara claims they are an unhealthy and unsustainable approach to weight loss.

She said, “There’s a lot of celebrities out there who support them, but they don’t work, end up jo-yo-ing, it can affect your metabolism, it can affect the way your body stores fat.”

In addition to a healthy diet, Dr. Sarah movement.

“Exercise is also about finding the right balance,” she says. “A lot of people start training too hard too soon.

“You have to build it up really slowly, otherwise it’s easier to fall off the training trolley.

“You’re also more likely to injure yourself and decide exercise isn’t for you.
