“WE are following in the footsteps of the giants,” the 2 Johnnies said ahead of their brand new RTE2fm show.

Comedy duo Johnny Smacks and Johnny B will introduce Drive It with The 2 Johnnies – replacing Jenny Greene’s current Drivetime position.

The match will air on Monday, February 21 and will have a regular slot on 2fm from 3-6pm.

In a statement, RTE said: “The show will serve up powerful melodies, great craziness and great new segments to keep listeners entertained every day of the week.

“The boys will take care of issues from getting the shift on Friday night, to when to change the oil for the tractor.

“And Johnny Smacks and Johnny B will also give the Irish people their say.”

2 Johnnies talk about their excitement and say they look forward to “trying not to fall everyday”.

They said, “We’re super excited to be on 2FM. We’re as loud as an old refrigerator.

“2FM is a monster station, with such a history and we will follow in the giants’ footsteps.

“For us it’s uncharted waters, but we aim to try not to drop every day. We’ll try everything, it doesn’t always run smoothly, but you won’t want to give up. miss it.

“We can only hope that people will talk about us in the years to come…. in a nice way.”

They added: “This show will be for the man in the truck, the parents who watch the kids eat the lights off the wall, the students pretending to study, the blocks or the curled locks.

“For listeners who are on their way home from work or if they are home alone, take the dog for a walk or run.


“For the farmers, the sandwich makers, the people eating the chicken rice paper rolls, the people sitting in trucks, buses, cars or working from home to kitchen.

“From the hand-drinking boys of Mountmellick to the women of Rathdowney wondering where the store center has gone – this show has something for everyone.”

2FM leader Dan Healy said he was delighted to welcome the comedian couple.

He said: “2FM is moving house for an evening drive and we are going to Cahir!

“We’ve heard 2 Johnnies over the years and 2FM is delighted to welcome them to the station.

“The boys have amazing chemistry and content. I believe 2FM audiences will love them.

“So with the show coming in daily from South Tipp, it really proves that 2FM is ‘The Sound of The Nation’.
