An angry couple have been fined thousands in fines for parking in metered lots and are even threatened with court action.
Tracey and Tony Newman spend £120 a month to rent two spaces for their vehicles in a car park near their shop.
The couple run an estate agent in Poole, Bournemouth, which they travel to every day while parking their vehicles at a Premier Park site on Prosperous Street.
But despite paying for their rooms every month, they say they have been bombarded with fines totaling more than £4,000 for almost three years.
Although there are designated signs stating that they are for business use, they have repeatedly received fines in the mail.
Tracey and Tony say they are being harassed for the money and have been warned of legal action if they don’t pay.
The business owners were “embarrassed” by the fiasco and are now desperate to solve the “irritating” problem.
Tracey told that Bournemouth echo: “It’s really irritating.
“If you’re trying to run a business, the last thing I want is to open my mail and get debt threats for just parking in a lot where I’m allowed to park.
“We rent the parking spaces for personal use, no matter whose cars are in there, the main thing is that there are only these two parking spaces.

“Premier Park manages the rest of the car park, these car parks are segregated and they are fully aware of that. However, they continue to send us parking tickets.
“Their guy who comes over was even there and apologized and we don’t get tickets anymore, that was a lot of rubbish.
“We are now getting threats of being taken to court if we fail to pay these various fines, which amount to thousands and thousands of pounds.”
The angry motorist says customers and visitors are often fined by the parking company as well.
Tracey continued, “We don’t have to show any authorization. They know that these two rooms have nothing to do with them at all.
“It’s even more concerning when it comes to customers or visitors.
“Tony’s car is in the Mercedes garage at the moment and they have given him a loaner. The Mercedes garage now gets parking tickets.
“We’re embarrassed. It’s not good for us at all. I’m worried I don’t want to go to court.
“We don’t even park wrong, there is no gray area.
“These are our parking spaces, rented by us, paid for by us, for our own company. It feels like banging your head against a brick wall.
“I want them to remove all fees and guarantee there will be no trials. And an apology would be nice.”
Fed up with the constant fines ruining her credit, Tracey branded the mistake “beyond a joke”.
And Tony, 52, says the fines continue to come through the door “on a daily basis”.
“I have envelopes coming out of my ears. It happens every day,” Tony said.
He added that he had leased the spaces from the car park’s owner, Graham Thorne, for almost 30 years.
But when Graham wrote a letter to Premier Park – the company hired to manage the car park – explaining his arrangement with the couple, Tony said it had no effect.
Graham said: “As far as I’m concerned, Tony shouldn’t have been charged.”
