A newly married couple has had to cancel their honeymoon after flights were changed to the middle of the night.

The couple say they received no warning about the change, which resulted in them losing their £4,000 honeymoon.

Caroline Jasinski, 33, married husband Alex Jasinski, 35, last year and the couple booked a trip to Turkey with their children through TUI for May.

Parents said they paid an extra £500 for day flights on top of the £4,000 holiday to accommodate young children.

But just a month before the holiday, they found their return flight had been rescheduled to 2am instead of the original 7pm departure.

The couple say it left them and their children stranded for 14 hours as they had to check out of their hotel room by noon.

And as they faced a £480 charge for an extra night at the hotel, they decided to cancel the entire trip.

The parents, whose wedding has already been postponed twice due to Covid, say their special holiday has become a ‘nightmare’.

Caroline said: “It wasn’t a cheap holiday but as it was our honeymoon we wanted something special.

“We were totally shocked to see the flights changed after paying so much to ensure the flight times were correct.

“The kids aren’t babies, but having them travel in the middle of the night would be a nightmare and in the end we couldn’t face it.”

The couple claim that TUI “wasn’t ready to do anything” which has “backed them into a corner and forced them to cancel the lavish honeymoon”.

However, the story has a happy ending for the family as a TUI representative confirms the case has been settled.

A TUI spokesman said: “We are very sorry that the family was affected by a change in the timing of their honeymoon and understand how disappointing this must have been.

“We have been in constant contact with the customer and are pleased that this has now been resolved and the customer is being refunded the full amount.”

Another family is concerned their £3,000 holiday in Turkey will not go ahead due to delays in passport renewals.

Up to 9.5 million applications are expected to be made this year after millions of passports expired during the pandemic.

The high demand for applications had meant that many families were waiting much longer than the usual 5-6 weeks for their passports to be returned.
