Mental health is a topic that often pops up in conversations these days. Friends and I are open about difficult days when we have them, and conversations with coworkers often include hints of balance and self-care.

A while ago I had to take a call from my GP to speak about medication in front of someone I was working with. It felt a bit awkward, but it didn’t feel like a big deal to explain that I’m on medication to help with depression. They, in turn, told me about the medications they were taking for anxiety, which began to manifest itself as panic attacks.
