It’s been a quiet week for us here at Nintendo Life, and until the release of Wave 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, it really seemed that way. If you are not a Mario Kart Tour fan then this DLC is for you! You can also check out what we think of Wave 1. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax also has a Switch port, and in our review we say more Persona on Switch is a good thing!
On to the news, us a surprise in the form of three new Sega Genesis games for the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass. The final trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 The film was dropped, and the poster is a cheeky nod to the box art of the original game. We found that out too Mario Striker Series could have been a platform series and we now know that Monster Hunter Rise: sun break will be released on June 30th
Now it’s time to chill and discuss our game plans for the weekend. A few MMembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so don’t hesitate to read our posts and then join in with your own via our comments section. Enjoy!

This year it’s time to boot up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the first time! And to be honest, the first time in a long time. I’m worried I’m a bit rusty – especially since I’ve challenged my partner to a couple of games. The last time we played anything competitively against each other, he beat me pretty well. He’ll be glad if I admit that. However, he will be less than happy to read this after I crush him in the new Booster Course Pass tracks.
I also think I’ll give the Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo a whirl. Confession: I’ve never beaten a Kirby game that isn’t Kirby’s Dream Course. I love the little guy, I just never made a conscious effort to get to the end of one. Maybe it’s time to change that this year.
What would you all suggest my first Kirby game besides Forgotten Land?

I’m playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this weekend – surprise! Yes, I’m going to hop on the new Booster Course Pass and have a blast at Choco Mountain. So far I’m loving the ‘new’ courses and it has also inspired me to go back and work my way through the original Grand Prix trophies. In other words, I’m going to be knee deep in Mario Kart for a few days!
I don’t have much else on the go at the moment. I’m still diving into Resident Evil to try and improve my speedrunning skills a bit, and I’ve tried a few games on the Sega Mega Drive – Nintendo Switch Online service; I’ll be trying out a few titles I’ve never played, but somehow I just seem to keep coming back to Sonic the Hedgehog 2…

I will surely enjoy more of the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass and try to give everything 3 stars; that’s a lot easier said than done at 200cc! On top of that, I’ll definitely be playing more triangle strategy that I’ve loved so far. It’s a real gem, so anyone who likes tactical games should at least give the prologue demo a try.
Elsewhere I’m still very early in Elden Ring, so I’ll try (and probably fail) to make some significant progress!

A nice bundle from the neighboring country delivered three physical versions of games I’ve always wanted to try, namely Maglam Lord, Death’s Gambit: Afterlife, and (finally) Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Chapter XII is next in Triangle Strategy, so my weekend is sorted.
Game of the week would be F-Zero X again if it weren’t for my miserable inability to play it properly with the Pro Controller. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes pole position this time around, with the new tracks being the perfect excuse to jump back into the Blue Shell inferno.

Don’t tell my partner but I’ve been in a committed relationship with Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the past two months and I think it’s time to finally end it. I’m nearing the official end and only have a few mon left to add to my dex and I’m just not sure I have the strength left to finish things. If I had behaved a bit better I might still be enjoying my time, but I’m feeling pretty burned out, especially since the last few I have to catch are either locked away behind a secure data wall or have somewhat grinding and happy demands . I might come back to this when the game gets a new event or some fun DLC, but for now I think I’ll let it rest.
That being said, I’m taking a flight to GDC next week to sit down for some dev discussions and play some indies, and I think I’d love to start something new on my return flight! Maybe something supposedly short and cute like Later Alligator or Octodad? The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles has been on my list since it released last summer, but I’m not sure I’m ready to embark on another 50+ hour dialogue-heavy adventure. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is another game that I’d like to put my shame out of! Oh, and Triangle Strategy is basically asking for his attention and I’d really like to fall face first into the HD 2D world, but the engagement is another big one! Any recommendations?
As always, thanks for reading! Leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
