What are you playing this weekend?

The weekend is just around the corner, the sun is finally shining and the birds are chirping. But who wants to get out and enjoy the weather when games are being played?

There will be many sunny days ahead, so forget going outside. Instead, just open a window and grab a drink along with a bag of chips and sit down to play a game or two. We do anyway.

Connor Makar, Editor – Lost Ark

This weekend I’ll try to take things a little easier – skipping all types of work and most games if I can. The only exception is Lost Ark.

According to my guild leader, I’ve been the least contributor lately, so I’ll try to fix that this week. Apart from that, I’ll try to finish the last Christmas schnapps I have lying around. Wish me luck!

Dorrani Williams, Video Producer – Destiny 2

It took me a while to make time for it destiny 2 because of… other games (*cough* Elden Ring *cough*).

But I’m back at it and I love the direction Bungie Destiny 2 is taking. The Witch Queen campaign was a lot of fun at Legendary, and I really like what they’ve done with the campaign’s mission structure: more time spent on missions and less time going to and from orbit.

However, I’ve now hit the performance limit so I can relax and focus on crafting weapons and testing new builds. I’m glad that multiple builds are now possible in Destiny 2, but it’s a shame there isn’t an in-game system to save loadouts. It’s annoying having to use third party apps like Destiny Inventory Manager to save my builds.

This week’s event in Destiny is Iron Banner, and I won’t lie: I had to shake off a little rust first. But I found my step again. There are also some great weapons that you can only get from Iron Banner, so they’ll take up most of my weekend! If Destiny players are reading this and looking for PvP tips, check out the instructional video I made. You can watch it above.

Dom Peppiatt, Features Editor – Tunic

I’m already done tunic on PC for my review. The game — an easy 5/5, by the way — is charming, clever, sassy, and one of the best Zelda-inspired adventure games I’ve played. You’ll fall in love with its silent main character, pinch your intrigues from the oddly eerie world that looks so cozy on the surface, and (if you’re anything like me) spend hours trying to decipher the incredibly clever game’s language that the development team invented for the world.

I loved the game so much that I’ll be playing it again now on Xbox Series X – and finishing again (thanks, Xbox Game Pass). It will be interesting to see how much shorter the experience will be now that I know where the shortcuts are, have an idea of a rough order in which to approach the game, and know some of the hidden mechanics to learn about its great, instruction book in game. It’s very, very rare that I want to play a game like this again so soon, so I have to thank Tunic for falling so completely in love with his foxy charm. I cannot recommend this game enough.

Stephany Nunneley, News Editor – Elden Ring, maybe Lotro

I ended up buying a copy of elden ring on PC because I was tired of hogging the game on Xbox. When we played “together,” we would take turns when we were having a hard time defeating a boss. Now I will be alone against this annoying troll.

I’ve avoided him for as long as possible while playing on Xbox and yes I try to stay under the ruck and roll around everywhere. I almost had him a couple of times if it wasn’t for the damn aim lock unlocking at the worst possible time. POOH.

Then again, I might just skip playing Elden Ring this weekend for something more relaxing and less annoying. Lord of the rings online is celebrating its annual Spring Festival now through April 5th and I need a new mount to add to my collection along with a new dress. I’m a fan of horses and pretty clothes in both my real and virtual life. It’s an expensive curse.

Tom Orry, Editor-in-Chief – Dead Space

I bought a Razer Kishi game controller (turns your phone into a gaming device, great for game streaming) after giving in to online pressure (a few tweets). I’m happy to say that it works very well and makes the overall cloud-based game streaming experience much better than I’ve experienced before, even with a mediocre internet connection.

Anyway, break the chase: I’ve been dabbling with streaming Game Pass games and I kind of got into gaming Empty room. This is a game that holds up very well, as its low resolution isn’t that much of an issue on my old Pixel 3’s small screen (although the size of the onscreen info is sometimes an issue). Being used to the Switch screen, that 5.5-inch screen isn’t quite enough to convince me I’m using an Xbox handheld, but it’s fine for short gaming sessions.

So what are you up to this weekend? Are you playing a game or going outside to do something productive or just enjoy the weather? Let us know!
