Well, it’s certainly been a slightly busier week for us here at Nintendo Life! Looking at the game announcements, we’ll be getting Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards on the Switch Online Expansion Pass, and Alan Wake has been confirmed for release on the Switch later this year. Finally, of course, we had a brand new Indie World storefront that was bursting at the seams with lots of cool little eShop gems.
In other news, our own NL community member Zuljaras created a remarkable DOOM sculpt, we checked out the emerging narrative in Minecraft, and there was some bizarre drama surrounding the Fei Long character in Street Fighter! Finally, of course, we saw the release of Nintendo’s fiscal 2022 financial results, which raises the question of when we might actually see the Switch 2 arriving.
Now it’s time to chill and discuss our game plans for the weekend. A few MMembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so don’t hesitate to read our posts and then join in with your own via our comments section. Enjoy!

This weekend is a double dose of new short RPGs, both of very different types! I’m going to dive into the Metroidvania-esque Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, which looks like a really nice little introduction before the main event – Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – hits next year. I don’t mind the idea of repeating fetch quests at the moment; I just need an enjoyable low stakes experience.
Also on the list is Jump Over The Age’s Citizen Sleeper, a game that only appeared on my radar a few weeks ago. I stumbled onto the soundtrack, and the lo-fi synthwave beats practically screamed (hummed?) “pick up the game”! Our rating also helped. More tabletop RPG and much higher stakes, but similar across people and communities. Until next week!

On the good ‘old switch it’s probably time for me finally Playing Gris, which I’ve heard a lot about. I’ve also started a new run in Civilization VI trying to take Robert the Bruce’s Scotland into space; Love the realism!
Elsewhere I’ve started a long overdue real run Yakuza: Like a dragonwith the mission not to crash in the middle of the story this time or waste too much time in the karting minigame.

So I’m still working my way through Bioshock Infinite this weekend because um… I didn’t actually play it last weekend when I said I would. I am sorry. I’ll try to make some decent progress on it this time though, and hopefully finish it sometime before next weekend.
Elsewhere, I decided to play through Red Dead Redemption 2 again on the PS5. I just love getting lost in the world of this game and it’s been long enough that I’ve forgotten quite a bit of the narrative.

This weekend is my first weekend off after two weeks of COVID followed by two weeks of visiting family so I’m going to play…SLEEP. Just kidding, it’s video game time babyyyy. Earthbound is the obvious one based on Backlog Club, but I haven’t stopped playing Slay The Spire yet either! I have 115 hours (I’ve played it a lot in the last month) and I’ve only beat the heart twice (defective x2). I got close to the Ironclad but forgot to take the last key. I’m still salty about it.
Otherwise, watching my partner play will be a mix elden ring, which is amazing, and trying out Dead Cells, which I first bought on sale a few weeks ago. I’m not sure why I put it off to be honest – I love roguelikes – but I find it a bit difficult to get into because it feels like I kind of skipped a tutorial? I have no idea. Please leave notes, thanks.

I’m just going to get my Wii U business in order. We finally got internet in the house last night!

I’m halfway through Division 1 Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe League standings and things can go either way. I’ve got some amazing new players to turn things around, including Jams, the best forward in the game. Continue to the latest trilogy in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with at least The Force Awakens to do this weekend. Beautiful physical arrivals included Archvale and Death Smile 1+2.
game of the week Cotton Fantasy! While my physical release is still somewhere in the future, ININ Games was kind enough to send me a review code. What an amazing reboot! I can’t keep track of how many games Umihara Kawase guest stars anymore.
As always, thanks for reading! Leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
