What do you think about the acquisition of Xbox and Activision Blizzard?

Yesterday, in an announcement that took every nook and cranny of the gaming industry by surprise, Microsoft announces plans to acquire Activision Blizzard. Phil Spencer, who you may know by now as the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, outlined that a deal – scheduled for completion in 2023, at a cost of $68.7 billion la – being worked on right now.

But a quick press release from Xbox and another from Activision Blizzard only do so much to shed light. It’s grandiose. Sparkling. Probably one of the biggest gaming news I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been reporting for over 10 years, at this point). It makes Microsoft’s takeover of Bethesda in 2020 seem insignificant (which is natural: This merger is about 10 times more valuable than Microsoft’s most recent major purchase).

We thought a lot about this situation, and We have drafted in a gaming expert to answer all your big questions on the more complex aspects of the merger. We’ve covered stories that compare this acquisition to other notable achievements in the media industry (note that Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard for what Disney paid for Fox) and we’ve dived into some of the comments from the curators.

Bobby Kotick, CEO at Activision Blizzard, said he would be “available when needed” at the studio as the takeover pushes forward. Phil Spencer has also given some PlayStation fans a glimmer of hope, note that “it’s not [Xbox’s] intent to pull the community off that platform and [it] still committed [PlayStation]. ”

That’s all well and good, but those are just some of the most important, must-haves we’ve covered here. The most important is; what do you think? As Xbox and PlayStation continue to talk about how gaming is a billion-dollar industry, it’s easy to overlook why that is. The Legion of Gamers – whether on PC, console or mobile – is the power source for the ever-evolving gaming machine. And when they vote with their wallets, sure enough, things will be felt around the industry.

With your thoughts in mind, we’d like you to hit the comments section below to let us know what you think of this unprecedented deal – and how it affects your shopping, spending and spending habits. your play or not.
