One of the best ways to describe it is a digital platform that allows users to share content and meet new people online.
It allows people to start conversations with each other, share pictures of what they are doing in their daily life and also react to other posts.
It also allows people to share their thoughts on social issues such as racism.
In 2020, the George Floyd case in America led to people being confined to their homes during the pandemic to take advantage of social media platforms like Twitter to raise awareness of racism and police brutality.
During the pandemic, it has enabled celebrities stuck indoors due to lockdown to connect with their fans and host live broadcasts of their activities at home.
Social media started out as a place for people to communicate with people far away or even in another country.
It has become a way to share thoughts, pictures, activities and more.
It has also given way to new marketing opportunities and has become a place for brands to promote their products.
They do this not only through their brand accounts, but also through the so-called influencers.
Being an influencer has become a common phrase in 2022.
An influencer would be someone who tries different products related to their niche topic, for example hair, and promotes them on their social media channels.
Usually, in such promotions, they offer discounts or freebies to entice the followers to buy the products.

How many people use social media?
By 2022, there will be approximately 4.62 billion social media users worldwide.
The most popular social media platform is Facebook with 2.91 billion users.
YouTube and Whatsapp then follow with 2.56 billion users and 2 billion users respectively.
The other two that make the top 5 are Instagram and WeChat.
