What is glitter?

Already 2018, the New York Times published an article detailing the history of glitter and how it was made.

In 1942, glitter was defined as “aluminum-metallized polyethylene terephthalate,” which takes 1,000 years to biodegrade and is primarily manufactured in New Jersey.

The article states that back then, according to the Glitterex company, the most popular glitter color was silver.

Glitter is used to add sparkle to many items such as clothing, cars, helmets and jewelry and we can go on forever.

But the glitter industry is very tight-lipped about which companies use such a substance, and we couldn’t understand why.

Why do people think there is a glitter shortage?

This leads people to think there is a glitter shortage as the Times article revealed that there is one shopper who consumes large amounts of glitter.

However, the buyer wants to remain anonymous, which makes people think and conspire.

On Reddit, people come up with conspiracies involving electronics and even toothpaste.

Some on TikTok even suggested that Glitter is used to track military weapons and applications through its small microplastic.

And that’s why they believe the shopper would like to remain anonymous as it’s a highly controversial industry mixed with a substance that’s usually known to blind objects.
