What other ‘old’ switch game would you like to see for new DLC? – Main speaking topic

Raise your hand now who really think we’ll get brand new DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in 2022?

We certainly didn’t; we’re all up and ready for Mario Kart 9 to be announced, but Nintendo clearly had other ideas, breathing new life into a game that is now 5 years old (or eight if you include the original Wii U release – which you should).

At first, it was a decision that inevitably confused many people – including this writer – who were there on Day One and have been playing Mario Kart 8 for years now. But now that we’ve had some time to figure it all out, the only question we have in mind is, “Sure, why not?”. After all, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold over 40 million copies so far, so it makes sense for Nintendo to capitalize on this while also boosting its Nintendo Switch Online offering.

It also makes us think. If an ‘old’ evergreen game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can get some brand new DLC, what other game would we like to see offered a new contract? Mario Party Superstars is rumored to be getting a DLC handle, but that came out last October. Hardly an ‘old’ game, hmm?

So take it easy, dear readers, as we look at some hypothetical scenarios where some of our favorite beloved Switch games get some new downloadable content. down attractive…

Super Mario Odyssey DLC

Released back in 2017, Super Mario Odyssey is fully featured, with over 15 kingdoms for you to discover to your heart’s content, from the exciting Metro Kingdoms to the nail-biting Darker Side, the latter is hard enough to test even the most experienced Mario fans.

Like anything worth having, however, we just want than — More levels please, Nintendo. The gameplay in which you use Cappy to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies, and collect coins is pretty timeless in our opinion, so why change a good thing?

As for what kind of level we want to see, we think it will just be pretty if the game pays homage to previous Mario 3D levels in a similar way to Mushroom Kingdom. How about an expanded Isle Delfino? Or perhaps Gusty Garden Galaxy? Who the hell are you kidding, give us a new Dire Dire Docks with a remastered soundtrack!

Arm (Image: Nintendo)

Like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, motion control fighter ARM got tons of DLC here and there – most of which is also free. We’re huge fans of the game (at least some of us), but in the years since its release the enthusiasm around Nintendo’s new battle IP has certainly died, so it definitely makes us wonder how completely successful the sequel really will be.

With over 2 million copies sold, keep in mind that ARMS – a brand new IP – is hardly a failure, so we thought it might make a little more sense to test the waters with a Brand new DLC numbers. Nintendo can safely play with this and just introduce a few more fighters, a stage here and there, and perhaps a new mode. But how about improving the whole experience with a new amount of ingredients?

It can be called Super ARMS EX ‘Turbo Alpha. Or not.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 DLC

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a game we’ll soon see getting a full sequel rather than DLC (a haunted theme park, anyone? matron!). The game as it has a series of themed levels is very solid thanks to the hotel’s floor setting, but nevertheless, there are always place to know more.

We love nearly all of the levels in the main game, especially Paranormal Productions and Castle MacFrights, but we also love a level based on a posh restaurant or perhaps an indoor water park – too bad, even a creepy incubator!

Once again, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a game that has received some DLC for its multiplayer component, but we think the main campaign is just as hot for some hot new content. Aside from the new floors, what about a few new abilities for the Poltergust G-00?

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DLC

Mission to remake such a favorite game with The Legend of Zelda: The Awakening of the Link Undoubtedly an already overwhelming task for developer Grezzo, who needed to strike a fine balance between paying homage to the original Game Boy classic and introducing something new. for fans. One of the new additions to the game is the ‘Dungeon Maker’, a completely neat idea that has never found a foothold.

Regarding the new DLC for Link’s Awakening, we think a dungeon creator expansion will just be convenient. We will not expect anything to the extent Super Mario Maker (in fact, that idea has since been discontinued), but some new layouts, items, enemies (maybe even something from another Zelda timeline) could give the feature a little bit of vibrancy and gives us a reason to return to Koholint.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars DLC

Yes, this is a bit obvious, and there is also a small problem in the fact that Super Mario 3D All-Stars are no longer actually available other than pre-owned physical copies (unless you happen to find a new copy, which shouldn’t be too difficult for all accounts).

However, we won’t regret again not begging Nintendo to include Super Mario Galaxy 2 – just a little bit of DLC to complete the pack! Come on Nintendo, this could be an easy win!

Alternatively, just re-release the full game.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC… Oh, wait!

Okay, just slow down – yes, we know Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is about to get some new DLC (that’s what this whole theme is about, after all).

With a total of 48 new courses coming to the game, we’d probably be a little greedy to ask for more, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get new characters or karts, does it? ? One of the big talking points ahead of the Booster Course Pack announcement was whether the next Mario Kart will actually become ‘Nintendo Kart’, expanding Mario Kart 8’s roster of non-Mushroom Kingdom characters and courses from other Nintendo IPs. We think Nintendo would do well to dip their feet in the water with even more DLC based on franchises like Metroid, Kirby, Pikmin – all of which are available on Switch – and more. Imagine the dresses around Coconut Mall like Samus or Ridley!

Then again, we questioned whether more DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a good idea, and most of your lovely people have made it clear that you want Nintendo to do. Full sequel.

Maybe we just don’t imagine. Or maybe we just can’t figure out why we can’t burn around in a Kirby kart.

And that’s it! We know that none of the above is likely to come true, but hey, we can dream right? Super Mario Party got an online update a few years after the fact – weird things happened!

But what about you? Which game would you like to see new DLC for? Or are you instead in camp waiting for the full sequel? Let us know!
