A small trick to change the font style in your text was shared recently on TikTok.

TikTok creator @letsdodiz posted the video and received hundreds of likes.

So how does it work?

Just open your WhatsApp on your iPhone, enter the conversation and type the message.

Then highlight a word (or sentence or entire message) and hold your finger down.

A pop-up menu will appear: now tap on the BIU icon.

This allows you to change your font style – possibly confusing your friends.

Of course, that’s not the only way to achieve this effect.

To make text bold, all you need to do is put an asterisk on either side of the word or phrase you’re trying to make bold, like this: *text here*

Similarly, it is also possible to skew WhatsApp messages, which is good for emphasis: italics.

It works exactly like the bold trick, but uses different symbols.

You need to put underscores on either side of the word or phrase you’re trying to edit, like this: _text going here_

Dash features draw a line through your text: strikethrough.

It is often used to denote that something is wrong or needs to be ignored.

To get a dash, put a tilde (that’s the scribble symbol) on either side of your message, like this: ~text here~

More WhatsApp tricks

There are some other handy WhatsApp tricks worth learning.

The first trick is to save the message as a favorite.

Simply open WhatsApp and then go to chat.

If you hold your finger on a specific message, you’ll get the option to Star that message.

Then go to your Settings and look for Starred Messages.

That’s where all your favorite messages will be stored.

It’s an easy way to keep track of important messages – be it an address, driving directions, or even a clever WhatsApp trick.

Another trick to learn is to pin chats.

This is an easy way to prioritize your favorite people in WhatsApp.

If you have a busy WhatsApp, your lover can sometimes get buried underneath work and group chats.

But in fact, you can pin some chats so they’re at the top of your main chat feed.

Go to your chat list, then swipe right on a chat.

You can then tap the Pin and that particular conversation will show up at the top of the feed.

And if you change your mind later, you can unpin at any time.
