Unfortunately, it won’t be able to tell if someone is talking about you behind your back – that would be a pretty feature.

Instead, tech giant Meta is working on a better way to let you know whenever you’re mentioned in conversations you’re a part of.

Basically, it makes notifications more useful than they are now.

The change means you’ll know better who mentioned you or replied to you in groups.

Previously, you would only receive a text-only alert.

But now, the person’s profile picture will appear in the notification.

It’s a small but useful tweak that will give users quick updates on who’s talking to – or about – them.

This tweak is included in a broader new feature currently being tested, designed to make notifications in general a little more informative.

WABetaInfo showed how the new notification system works.

For now, it’s only been revealed to a handful of beta testers on iOS 15.

We don’t know if it will appear on Android or not.

In fact, it is too early to develop so WhatsApp may decide not to continue the idea entirely.

If it’s rolling out anytime soon, it will be the first change to hit the app in 2022.

The platform has made a number of changes in recent months.

In December, it finally listened to its fans and added voice message previews.

It also started allowing users to set self-destruct timer for all your chats.

That means all the text will automatically delete after a selected period of time.

Until the new profile photo editor comes out, make sure Install WhatsApp are in the best possible shape next year.
