This is a language and speech condition that is often caused by damage to the left hemisphere of the brain.

Common causes of this are a stroke, a severe head injury, a brain tumor or progressive neurological diseases.

Some people who have it don’t realize that their language makes less sense and can become frustrated.

It can affect people of all ages but is most common in those over the age of 65.

This is mainly because strokes and neurological disorders tend to affect older adults.

A joint statement from Bruce’s family was released yesterday, saying: “Our beloved Bruce has had a number of health conditions and was recently diagnosed with aphasia which is affecting his cognitive abilities.

“As a result, and with much deliberation, Bruce is stepping down from the career that has meant so much to him.

“This is a truly challenging time for our family and we are so grateful for your continued love, compassion and support.

“We’re going through this as a strong family unit and wanted to include his fans because we know how much he means to you, just as you do to him.”

Symptoms include trouble reading, hearing, speaking, typing, or writing.

It does not affect the sufferer’s intelligence, but rather his ability to communicate.

They can sometimes put the wrong sounds in a word, choose the wrong word, or put words together incorrectly.

Aphasia can also occur with other disorders. These can include vision problems, mobility problems, weak limbs, and problems with memory or thinking skills.

It is diagnosed after speech and language tests, with scans assessing brain damage.

Speech and language therapy is the main type of treatment for people with this condition.

Although it varies from person to person, most people with aphasia recover in some form. And some can even fully recover.

However, the disease is difficult to bear and can lead to isolation, anxiety and depression.
